Seals Spray Skirts
Thanks To Joe Galea For sending us out this skirt

The Pro Shocker Spray skirt 1.7

I have to say, before Joe sent us out this skirt I had little knowledge of the Seals Skirts. After having this skirt for about two months and paddling with it more than once a week we were all pleasantly surprised.

This Skirt seemed to make the rounds. Luke took it creeking and put it on his Necky Blunt and ran some big drops. Brian had it out at Bob's and threw loops and all the other good moves. I took it out to the ocean on some 13 plus foot days. Then I took it to the "C" wave, Bob's and a couple other places and we all liked it a lot.

Fit On Boat: This Skirt is a nice tight fit. With a overthruster on, the skirt its not too hard to put on, but just tight. You won't worry about it coming off. The rubber coating on the inside of the skirt made it go on the rim and not move. On the Seals Skirts web site you will find a Seals Fitter Utility. I have never see one of these things on another web site. It is very helpful when you want your skirt to fit you and your boat like a glove.

Fit On Body: Everyone seemed to like the fit around the body. Once again with the Seals Fitter Utility it is kind of hard not to have the skirt fit you right.

Durability: With 3.5 thick neoprene and 3/8” stitched bungee to hold it on to your boat this thing is stout. With the glued, stitched and sealed seams on the inside, you will have this thing for a while. The only thing we noticed is that the top of the skirt got a little fuzzy when rubbed by Velcro from a dry top.

Keep Water Out: Well I paddle a Dagger most of the time, so water gets in no matter what. But I did notice a huge difference in how much water. About a 1/8 of the normal amount that is usually in the boat after a good session.

Implosion: This a pretty critical part of any spray skirt. You want to feel secure in your gear and know that you can trust it. I hate to see people swim because their skirt has blown. Well Jacob and I put this thing to the test before paddling out for a 12 to 14 foot day out at the coast. We did the usual; put the skirt on the boat and shove it down to the seat with our hands. Then we grabbed it by the tunnel and swung the boat around. Take that, then factor in some good thrashings by some big waves and you get a skirt that doesn't come off easily.

Grab loop: With a hard rubber piece on the handle, this grab loop is easy to find. It does it's job and does it well. We all hope it is doing its job at the take out and not in the river.

All And All: This Is a great product. All the people we put in it liked it a lot. The the question is, "How Much?". Well we found this skirt on the web, in more than a couple spots, for around a hundred bucks. I can't tell you what a great price that is for this skirt. When I first was using it I was thinking it was going to be around the same price as the brand I have used for years, but it's not. The price is not the only good thing about this skirt; it's a quality piece of equipment.
