Paddler Profile

Paddler profile looks at... Jim Pytel

logging air miles

Projects: Aspirations of the High Water Drifter, a connected narrative based on half true river stories and, in true paddler fashion, bullshitted out of proportion. Jim deconstructs the dudespeak, dreams, and dick jokes that encompass the male paddling culture and somehow manages to tie life, love, and kayaking into one entertaining tale. Expect to see publication Spring/Summer 2004. Check www.playboatingnorthwest.com for updates, excerpts, and links.

Editors Notes: Oh what can I say about Jimmy Pytel. Having paddled and drank beer with Jim for years, Jimmy has the most positive attitude of anyone I know. Always up for paddling any river at any time, you'll never here him complain about the day spent on the water. Having a true passion for the sport and the lifestyle, he and Gypsy travel far and are known throughout the paddling community. When you see him paddle, you wonder, why isn't he sponsered? He's so good! But when you talk to him, you realize that's not what he's looking for.
