The Nike ACG Toketee Mid
By: Ken Pitta

I ran into David Crane from Nike ACG at the Oregon Cup this year. We started talking about the all the different gear for 2004 and I told him the new ACG Bootie looked really good. So he hooked me up with a pair and said, "Put them to the test". So I took them to Skook, Idaho, Ottawa, Lachine and all my local spots. This is how they did.

In Your Boat: This Bootie is a little bigger than your usual water sock. It has a low profile outsole. So it seemed to fit in just about every boat from play to creek. A little tight in my play boat but they fit and were comfy in the boat.

On Your Feet: This is like the "Caddy" of the river foot wear. With support straps on the back, top and down the foot you can adjust the shoe to fit any size foot and have it fit like it was glued on.

On the Bank: The low profile sticky rubber keeps everthing uprite on the bank. I doesn't seem to matter what you are walking on, these things just don't seem to want to slip.

On The Trail: Hiking in and out of different play spots and rivers is all part of our game. So having good footwear is a important part of your gear. These shoes stood up to every test and more. Hiking out of steep spots when you would think you would need some hiking boots. These shoes stood up to the chalenge. Running down the trail to get to the Skook wave because we were trying to catch the tide. I was glad to have them on.

All and All: I really liked these shoes and think they fit great. I could wear them just about anywere and forget they were on my feet. They were somewhat warm, but for the most part in Oregon we have to wear a layer on our feet to keep warm all winter and spring.

First Descents: Help support the fight against cancer. For every pair of Tokette and Toketee mid shoes sold Nike ACG will make a donation to First Descents Kayak Camp for young adults battling cancer. For more info go to www.firstdescents.com
