| Description: Believe it or not
there is a play spot in the Tri-Cities. This spot where water is
pouring out of a large diameter pipe is affectionately known as Beer
Falls because of all the high school parties that happen here.
What Beer Falls may lack the aesthetics compared when compared other
play spots in the Northwest it makes up for in consistency because
it is in so reliably. It is a great place to cartwheeling skills and
ready yourself for long days on Wenatchee when the run-off hits.
Beer Falls is a turbocharged version of Eugene's 24-7. Beer Falls
lets you link up a seemingly endless series of cartwheel in either
direction though lefts are slightly easier. You can cartwheel here
until your abs are burning and your arms are spent. It is even
possible to loop and hit back to back tricky-wus if you are on your
game. Beer Falls is a notorious high
school party spot. During day-light hours you don't need to worry
about running into crowds of drunken youth but you do need to worry
about cutting your feet on broken glass that may be hidden in the
sand, wear your booties.
Though I wouldn't advise it, many paddlers
amuse themselves at Beer Falls by starting their rides with a
slide down through the pipe and a
dramatic cartwheel entrance into the
pour-over hole. |

| Local's Tips: Don't paddle here
before 2 pm. There is a rumor that the irrigation district puts
chemicals into the irrigation system everyday at noon to slow the
algae bloom in the canals. Apparently by 2 pm the chemicals have
flushed through. |
